The fog seemed thickened as midday set in, it had been sunrise since the pale hued wolf had left the shelter he had taken after a week in the mountains. The dead trees and foreboding aura did not deter him, he had been determined to find the residents of this land. It was just another adventure, just another story to tell when he got home.
The brute was not much bigger than the average timber, fur a mix of alabaster and cream, with an unusual set of pale gold markings on top, he seemed almost unnatural in the environment. His hazel eyes were dead set ahead, he kept his pace moderately fast. He hummed a tune quietly to himself, a little tune his whole family had known. Wherever they were.
This place had seemed like some sort of golden statue in the eyes of the wolf, some sort of hidden place only the best could get to, weather it was true or not. His need to get to the top was only in his heritage, unavoidable obstacles were overtaken with passion, without fear of death. He had no need to own this land however, he would be known, he would leave, eventually, like his breathe as it was drawn up in smoke and faded away with the fog.

Rowan had been following his scent straight towards him ever since she detected him from the southern borders. She moved silently behind him now, as keeping an eye on him proved all too easy. He stuck out like a flower in these rocky terrians. She, however, seemed only like another boulder when still. Perfect for sneaking up upon such wolves like this one.

He kept up his trot, ears flicking back for just a fraction of a second. This place made one feel like you were being watched, he felt like it from the moment he had gazed at the mountain border, and decided he wanted to go there. Only this time, as he paused, he was sure he was being followed. He sniffed the air, gold hued nose analyzing the scent carefully, but he only picked up the damp smell of the fog. If he was being followed, it wasn't by a stupid wolf. It was by a shadow, he was sure, but he wasn't as helpless as one would think, he had been trained well. He was to smart to trot into here unprepared. He grinned slightly, before continuing. It was only a matter of time.

She continued to advance, but a bit more cautiously. He knew something was there; instinct told the wolf that much. He alerted her to knowlegde because she'd watched him sniffing around. She smirked at a thought, he can sniff all he wants for he'll never find me. She padded along, weaving in and out of the trees as she drew steadily closer to the cream colored wolf.

He yawned as he walked, the fog rising up in a double amount. He swished his tail in a bored manner. He wished they would just show themselves already. Mind you, he could just keep walking until he reached the other side if he wanted. Weather the wolf showed itself soon or not, it'd meet up with him. his ears were listening for the slightest sound in in the silence, his nose ready to take in the slightest sight, and his hazel eyes, though facing forward, looked at what they could for clues. If the wolf never showed itself, he'd have to find it.

Rowan watched him scent once more. She still continued, closing the gap but remaing well hidden. She was his shadow now...sometihng you know is there but can never really catch. Her blue eyes kept a careful watch upon him; she always liked to keep enemies close to her, for the never expected her to be so dangerously close to them. And her paws moved carefully over the dirt, taking great percaution to avoid every leaf and twig, and to step only when the male stepped so that no sound could be heard.

He started humming again, this time a happier and more bouncy tune, swaying his tail subconsciously with it, lifting his head from the neutral position it has been in to high up in a more dominant position as he trotted along. He could feel the shadow's presence increase as it got closer. Only a matter of time now. Only time.

Rowan then hit a sort of 'barrier'. She got no closer, and continued along at a constant distance of 5 meters, so as to stay far enough away to have enough reaction time should he decide to attack. The female noted his more relaxed walk, and as such a slightly more domanite pose; he was getting comfortable. That was good...all she needed was for him to drop his gaurd before she could rush upon him.

He continued along, appearing not to even notice her presence. He might have looked as if he had dropped his guard, but he was smarter than that, he knew he couldn't afford to drop his guard. The fog thickened slightly, alabaster paws moving it around as he walked, his breath almost loosing visibility in the thickened area of fog. He finished the tune he had previously been humming, and started on another one, a rhapsody, bittersweet and enchanting, the same he had hummed before he had noted the shadow's presence.

And now was her chance to strike. With the skill of a crouching tiger she surged fourth, passing the wolf in the shadows and doubling back around front. A he drew nearer to her, for Rowan placed herself in his path, her form would begin to materialize against the foggy mist, as she would seem more phantom like than ever before.
Her blue eyes were peircing as they stood out from her black form and sliced through the dense fog, looking to get a lock upon all that be so unfourtunate to approach her. And best of all, her form would be concealed until the last possible moment when the wolf would draw a bit too close.

The wolf stopped, pausing in mid note, staring ahead calmly with his hazel eyes, barely able to make out her shape only a few feet in front of him as the fog swirled thin with her movement for a split second. His curled tail swayed slowly, contemplating his next move. He shuffled back just ever so slightly, finding her shape disappearing as he did so. Something told him he'd get a nasty surprise if he got to close. He locked onto her location, so he could sense any movement.
"Do you want something, ghost?"

Rowan listened to his tone...he was cautious. She liked that; a formidable foe always made her game a bit more interesting. Like nothing more than a rock, she was still. Motionless. Even her breath was slowed so that almost no trace of her could be found. Her peircing eyes could see him easily through the fog, for his form did everything but blend with the scenery.
This land belonged to her grandfather, Kalyptin; at the time he was known for movin glike a shadow among there trees, and Rowan proved no less capable, if anything even more so. She slowly extended her talons as the gripped the moist earth, and her voice echoed in the fog, shooting out in all directions and quickly muted once more due to the absorbant fog.
"You dare walk into the shadows? A brave soul...or a very stupid one."
