Unable to hold back the cringe any longer, Tristan flinched inwardly, facial expression contorting into some creation of distaste and ignorance. Golden orbs shifted to lock with Rowan's and he held her gaze. They say the eyes are the window to the soul. Hackles were now noticably risen upon the nape of the brute's neck. Finally, after a few anticipated moments of stillness, Tristan's deep, husky voice broke the silence, "Humans broke the foundations of which I lived, dear Rowan. They slaughtered my kin, and put an end to my birth pack's lineage. They destroyed all that was known to me, and they stole away all those I once cared about."

And I see no bravery, in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

A crude grin came over Arin's otherwise soft features. Now they turned hard and cold in the face of humans. Her voice was soft, and had the icy edge of experience. "Yes..It seems to be what they do. I'm sorry, Tristan, for your loss as well as all others'." There was also a warmth in Arin's voice. The warmth of understanding; comfort. The alabaster femme's eyes locked with Tristan's, though they seemed unfocused. "They'll always come though. For us - those they don't understand. Those they fear. But they have their own ways of dealing with what they fear." The female's ears were 'laxed half against her skull; her breathing slowed to shallow pulls. Arin cam back into herself after a moment. She blinked softly, but her eyes were still slightly misted over. Her orbs dropped from Tristan, and her tail resumed pulsing against her leg as she resumed her quiet.

Rowan held his gaze, her peircing eyes seemingly gazing deep within the wolf's thoughts. Her black pelt swayed softly giving her the impression of a whisping shadow. Although a slow mist had begun settling around them, her eyes remained just as clear though the fog.
Her voice wasn't warm or even cold or hollow; just emotionless. Not monotone, but holding the effects. Everything was clearly stated, something inforced for dramatic effect; her words were the same, nevertheless. "Then you shall enjoy the Shadows very much. Human life is never tolerated, and those huskies never live to see the daylight again. You may seek an outlet here with the passing humans, for their deaths are always rewarded with praise."
She kept her still posture and for his raised fur, hers was flat. For his flat ears, her erect and fixated upon him, swiviling around every now and then. She was in her prime; tortured by humans since birth, she only bore malice towards the speices. To her, she half looked forward to seeing what this wolf could do to them. At last, Rowan gave a small warning. "But don't be so bold as to think you can take them on alone. If the 9 dogs don't finish you off, then the wepons kept at the settlement will. I've seen them used with my own eyes...attacking alone--no one stands a chance. So be weary if you spot them."

The nigrescent brute shifted his weight, sleek talons raking the moist loam beneath his regal physique, creating deep chasms within the soil. As his gaze met with Arin's, his brows furrowed. Dual hearkens swivelled to the sound of her voice, his mind quickly and efficiently processing every word that was said. "There have been too many loses. The simplicity of the word 'sorry' cannot begin to mend the chaos the humans have created in the past. But I applaude the effort, Arin." This was Tristan's metaphorical way of thanking Arin for her empathy. But it was true, as much as sympathy could help begin to heal the wound caused to the wolfen species by the human race, in the greater picture it hardly seemed worth the effort. 'Sorry' could never amount to the pain experienced by the wolfen kin. As Rowan began to speak, he turned slightly to face her. Impassive optics of gold remained locked with her's, "Praise is not nessicary, just the self-satisfaction of tasting thier blood on my tongue. The self-gratification we'll have knowing we've perhaps caused them a fragment of the pain they've caused us over the centuries, dear Alphess." He paused, "And I am not a fool enough to approach them on my own. Only a wolf with a thirst for death would follow that path."

[size=1]"Or a very brave one," She muttered silently to herself. She thought to herself for a moment, then at last looked back at the two wolves before her. She began chewing on the bone with a fresh intensity and when at last it was merely shredded fragments she stopped long enouhg to speak once more. "As much as i'd rather relax and remain here, i'm afraid i must leave. I have...buisness to take care of."
Rowan stood and took a few steps, then paused for a moment. She glanced back over her shoulder and spoke with a more authoritive air. "There is a pack; Twilight-Moon is their dubance. Be wary of them...they'll kill you first chance they get. Stay away from the northern borders...for now at least." Then she headed off.

Arin knew well what Tristan said was true. She merely bowed her head, retreating into herself. These moments for her were rare, but seen as necessary to keep herself where she needed to be. It would be over shortly; she knew. Her gaze turned to the alphess. Arin had just come from the northern borders...It was her turn to furrow her brow slightly, but only nodded the alphess off. She felt the need to rise also, but couldn't bring her haunches to standing quite yet. A slight sigh escaped the alabastor femme. Golden orbs seeming a bit hesitant, Arin turned to Tristan. She tried at a smile, succeeding only halfheartedly. "I'm afraid I'll be going as well." She paused, but took a step closer. Her voice was soft. "Sorry may be only a word to you, but it is a feeling as well. Do not think you are alone in your past." Arin looked at him a moment longer, the first signs of sadness in her flaxen eyes. Shaking her head, she turned away and walked into the brush.
